Software Developer/Database Manager

The National Swine Registry (NSR) is a small not-for-profit organization that provides leadership to purebred swine breeders throughout the US and around the world in the areas of marketing, genetic evaluation, and education. The NSR is currently seeking a full-time entry level software developer/database manager to join our organization.

Position Summary:

The position will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining web applications, as well as developing scripts and working in SQL databases. The sites primarily handle all traffic for show entries and data references, and the scripts primarily handle genetic calculations and database entries.

Required Skills:

  • Junior or higher in computer science, software engineering, or related field
  • Familiarity with C#, VB.Net, and .NET frameworks
  • Experience with classic asp, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Jquery
  • Working knowledge of SQL and SQL Management Studio
  • A good handle on Object-Oriented development
  • Familiarity in Visual Studio
  • Basic understanding or desire to learn R script

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor’s in computer science, software engineering, or related field
  • Experienced in R script, older Web forms, VB script
  • Powershell script


The successful applicant will collaborate with several departments within NSR to develop web- and server-based applications with diverse purposes. As a result, candidates must illustrate the ability to work independently, have excellent planning and organizational skills, and demonstrate attention to detail. Salary is commensurate with experience and educational background.
