Macy Mead, 9, of Monrovia, Ind., is the daughter of Kenny and Georgia Mead. She has a younger brother, Parker. Macy will be entering fourth grade this fall at Dane Suzanne School in Plainfield, Ind. Outside of the classroom, Macy enjoys showing pigs and playing basketball and soccer.

She has shown pigs since she was 3 and has been an NJSA member for three years. In this short time, Macy has won showmanship in both the novice and junior divisions. She is also successful outside of the show arena as she was second in the All-Stars Soccer Tournament.

When asked what her most memorable NJSA moment is, Macy recalls being at the NJSS with her friends and doing the "Battle of the Barns." She also has many memories of the dances. “Going to all of the shows and being with friends is the best part about being an NJSA member,” Macy says. “Oh, and showing pigs, too!”

Of all the contests that NJSA offers, showmanship is Macy’s favorite. “I like showmanship the best because it tests how much you have improved and tells you what you still need to know,” she says.

Even though she is young, Macy has big aspirations for her future. Not only does she want to serve on the NJSA Board of Directors, once she gets out of high school, Macy wants to become a veterinarian for both large and small animals. She said, “That is unless I really don’t want to do that. Then I will be a teacher.”

She would also like to say thank you to Adam Beck for helping her pick out her pigs and for helping her with showmanship, and to Katey Brattain for being a great mentor.

Congratulations on all of your accomplishments, Macy! We are proud of you.
