Health Regulations

1. Each animal must be accompanied by TWO COPIES of an official interstate health certificate issued by a licensed, accredited veterinarian. Certificates must show name and address of consignor; consigned to the Summer Type Conference or National Junior Summer Spectacular, Louisville, Ky.; individual identification of animal; and health status of animal, including the dates of required tests and vaccinations.

2. All certificates must be issued after June 9, 2008, with the following information:
A. Brucellosis: All animals must originate from a Brucellosis Class “Free” state or be from a validated brucellosis free herd with the validation herd number and test date on certificate or be negative tested for brucellosis after June 9, 2008, and test date written on the certificate. Texas exhibitors must be from a validated brucellosis free herd with the validation herd number and test date on certificate or be negative tested for brucellosis after June 9, 2008, and test date written on the certificate.
B. Since all states are Stage 5 of the Pseudorabies (PRV) eradication program, no testing is required for this show. If the animals come from a Pseudorabies qualified herd, it is required that this number and the last test date appear on the health certificate.
C. Vaccination against Leptospirosis (6-way) including bratislava and erysipelas. The date of vaccination MUST be listed on the health certificate.
D. All health certificates must list the following statements: no raw garbage
fed, herd is not under quarantine for any disease and uses no PRV vaccine.
E. Since Utah requires a test for PRRS, no animal from this sale may be purchased to go to the state of Utah.
F. A premise ID number is required. To register for a premises ID, go to the NAIS Web site. Click on Register your premises today! Then, click on your state to register your premises. It’s fast, free and easy to do!

A health certificate must be inspected and approved by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Division of Animal Industry, before unloading. If you unload before the approval, you will be asked to leave.

Evidence that a paper has been altered will result in dismissal of the shipment. All swine brought to the STC and NJSS must be listed on the health paper and meet the same requirements as the swine being shown.

If you are only exhibiting in the NJSS and have not entered your gilt(s) in the open show at the STC, you DO NOT need to call the Kentucky State Veterinarian’s Office for a permit number. If your gilts are entered in the STC (and you do not live in Kentucky), you must call and get a permit number. To obtain a permit number, a licensed, accredited veterinarian must call the Kentucky State Veterinarian’s Office at 502.564.3956.
