Entry deadline: Aug. 1, 2008
Gilts must be born Jan. 1, 2008, and after.
Barrows must be born Jan. 1, 2008, and after, weighing between 220-280 lbs.
Exhibitors must show one purebred barrow in order to show one or two crossbred barrows.
To compete, you must be an NJSA member, 21 years and younger.
Health Rules & Regulations
Each animal must be accompanied by an original and two copies of an official interstate health certificate issued by a licensed, accredited veterinarian. Certificate must show: name and address of exhibitor; participating in the NJSA Southwest Regional, Wichita Falls, Texas; individual identification of the animal; and health status of animal, including the date of required vaccination.
All health certificates must be issued after Aug. 1 with the following information:
A. Leptospirosis vaccination is required on gilts only within 30 days prior to entry, with Lepto vaccine containing the following strains: Bratislava, Conicola, Hardjo, Icterohaemorrhagial, Grippotyphosa and Pomona. Vaccination date must appear on the health certificate.
B. A statement must appear that says the animal has not been fed garbage, has not been exposed to hog cholera, does not originate from a quarantined herd, nor has the herd of origin had PRV within the last six months, nor have the entries themselves been vaccinated for PRV.
C. A premises ID number is also required on your health papers. For more information, visit www.usda.gov/NAIS.

9 a.m.: Earliest gilt and barrow entries may arrive at fairgrounds
Noon-4:30 p.m.: Check-in and Showmanship Registration
4:30 p.m.: All gilts and barrows must be in place in barn
6 p.m.: Crossbred Barrow Show
Saturday, Aug. 30
7:30 a.m.: Junior Exhibitor Meeting
7:45 a.m.: Showmanship (Sr., Int., Jr., Nov.)
10:30 a.m.: Purebred Barrow Show (Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Yorkshire)
12:30 p.m.: Judging Contest Registration
1:30 p.m.: Novice Judging Contest
2:30 p.m.: Judging Contest (Jr., Int., Sr.)
(officials to follow the completion of the senior division oral reasons)
7 p.m.: Judging Contest Results
7:15 p.m.: NJSA Pizza Party
Sunday, Aug. 31
7:45 a.m.: Exhibitor Breakfast (free to all exhibitors and their families)
8 a.m.: Inspiration service with Ray Perryman
9:30 a.m.: Purebred Gilt Show (Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Yorkshire)
Sweepstakes Awards Ceremony to follow gilt show
All gilts and barrows will be released after the sweepstakes presentation.
