2018 Jr. Exhibitor Letter

Dear World Pork Expo Junior National Exhibitors,

The 2018 WPX Junior National will be held June 3-9 in Des Moines, Iowa, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. In order to make this event run smoothly, we’ve included a few reminders.

Before You Leave Home

  • Be sure to have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) (Health Papers) for all animals coming to the World Pork Expo. Work with your veterinarian to make certain the CVI is filled out completely and accurately and meets all requirements for World Pork Expo health regulations.
  • Make sure animals meet updated PRV and Brucellosis requirements. Be sure to have the official PRV test chart results for all animals coming to the World Pork Expo. These tests must be completed after May 11, 2018.
  • Make sure all animals are identified with an official ear tag. Ear tags must be in the animal’s ear and tag numbers should be listed on the health certificate to identify each animal.
  • Ear notches must also be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) for each animal.
  • Make sure all purebred animals meet breed eligibility requirements for their respective breeds. For more information on breed eligibility requirements; visit nationalswine.com, cpsswine.com and americanberkshire.com.
  • Be sure to bring pedigrees for all purebred animals. Please review pedigrees to make sure they accurately meet all required information (exhibitor name, ear notch, sex, date of birth, transfer of ownership).
  • Due to space limitations, exhibitors within the same family are required to pen two pigs per pen. Please bring pen dividers, if needed, as they will not be provided.

General Information

  • Due to space limitations, as we have more than 5,000 head entered, we will be assigning pens as exhibitors arrive based on the number of pigs each family brought to the show. It will be mandatory that exhibitors within the same family pen two pigs per pen (excluding boars)! Pen dividers will not be provided by show staff. Be sure to bring your own, if needed.
  • If you have entries that are entered in both the Junior Show and the NSR Open Show, please email Lisa Kennedy at Lisa@nationalswine.com with your ear notches by May 28th.
  • If you have entries that are entered in both the Junior Show and the ABA or CPS Open Show, please email Berkshire information to Berkshire@nationalswine.com and CPS information to cpspeoria@mindspring.com by May 28th.
  • The World Pork Expo Junior National is open to all Team Purebred and NJSA members, ages 21 and under, as of January 1st, 2018. Divisions include Novice (8 & under), Junior (9-12), Intermediate (13-16) and Senior (17-21).
