On December 26,1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Dixie. Dr. Hodson’s career had far reaching impacts on the global swine industry. In 1981, Harold left a career in academia to found Swine Genetics International (SGI) in Cambridge, IA. Harold remained active at SGI continuing to work with his many local, U.S. and international partners. Harold was often recognized for his service. He was awarded the 2015 Floyd Andre Award honoring Iowa State alumni who have made significant contributions to agriculture. He was also recognized by the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement (IFAA) for being a dedicated board member and director of scholarships since 1990. Harold will definitely be missed around the Iowa State Fair Swine Barn. Harold was an avid golfer and cheered loudly for his beloved Iowa State Cyclones and St. Louis Cardinals. Harold was most devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Harold was our mentor and friend. We are honored to carry on his legacy by continuing to lead the SGI business! - The SGI Team 9 JUNE 2019 | SEEDSTOCK EDGE 3 2019 Jun SE Form.indd 95/9/2019 6:15:56 PMNext >
