NJSA Junior Board Feature :: Morgan Mench
What is your favorite aspect of being on the Junior Board?
My favorite aspect of having the honor to serve on the Junior Board is building relationships and making a network of people within the swine industry. During my interview I remember answering the question Craig Spray asked, “Why do you want to be on the Junior Board?” I explained that I enjoy hearing everyone’s stories throughout their journey of growth within this industry and how so much has changed over the years. I wanted to help NJSA members continue their development and succeed. It is an honor to help our youth move in a positive direction.
What is a fun fact about yourself?
I always struggle with this question. I always say I have a younger sister who is my best friend and she doesn’t realize that I look up to her as much as she looks up to her big sister.
What is your favorite stock show memory?
It is a more recent memory because I have numerous memories that I have throughout my journey. In 2016, at World Pork Expo Senior Showmanship my sister and I were neck and neck. She was selected as Reserve Champion Showman and I was third that day. It is simply a memory I will remember because people flooded with excitement for the Mench girls.
How do you hope to impact the agriculture industry?
After graduation I will start my career with FMC, an agriculture chemical company. I will be Retail Market Manager in Eastern Indiana. I am excited to continue my growth and education in the agronomic field. I also will continue to raise showpigs with my parents, sister and fiancé Jared Whiteside. We hope to continue to raise elite and competitive showpigs. I look forward to this next chapter with my family. I hope to help new and young 4-H and NJSA members to grow this burning passion that is deep inside me and create new opportunities for the next generation. I never want to stop learning. I want to continue my growth every day and take advantage of learning from industry leaders.
