Kids, pigs and building a future – that is what the National Junior Swine Association is all about. And with your help, we can continue this tradition. Formed in 2000 as part of the National Swine Registry, the NJSA is for youth ages 21 and under who have an interest in the Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace and Yorkshire breeds of swine. With more than 10,500 members, NJSA is the largest youth livestock organization in the U.S., and offers national shows, regional shows and partnered shows, along with leadership conferences and a variety of educational contests and scholarship opportunities.
NJSA members know raising livestock is not just an occupation or an obligation; it’s a way of life they can take pride in.
Youth learn the art of animal husbandry, and the importance and value of a hard day’s work, as they prepare their swine projects to exhibit at NJSA sanctioned shows throughout the nation.
But raising pigs isn’t just about the blue ribbons; it’s about learning the skills needed to move the swine industry forward.
By raising purebred, pedigreed pigs and learning about the importance of good genetics and proper management, our youth are poised to feed America in the future.
