10 Things to Know for NJSS

The most wonderful time of the year is here, and no it’s not Christmas. Its almost time for the National Junior Summer Spectacular in Louisville, Kentucky! In order to get you geared up for an awesome week, we want you to know there are other events going on as well. We have made a list of 10 events you should try out while you’re at the NJSS.

The Fun Starts at Unloading!

Uh… the dreaded task of having to haul all of your tack to your pen and set up. Look at it on the bright side, you get to see your friend from across the country and maybe make some new friends with the people penned on your aisle.

Barnyard Olympics

Who doesn’t enjoy playing crazy games with their friends? You and three of your friends can compete with other teams of four for ultimate bragging rights as the champions of Barnyard Olympics! Start practicing on your three-legged race skills! Barnyard Olympics is on Tuesday.

MVP Celebration

After the Barnyard Olympics, MVP protégées and their mentors can get together for more games and fun. Even if you are not an MVP participant, you can come join in on the fun to see what the MVP program is all about!

Corn Toss Tournament

The final contest on Tuesday is the Corn Toss Tournament. Both adults and kids are welcome to enter and have a chance to win a pile of cash! Find a partner who wants to win some money and come out and play corn toss!

Skillathon

Here is a chance to test your knowledge on all things pig related! Skillathon is a great way to learn more about pork production and test your overall knowledge of the industry. Come out on Tuesday and participate.

Speech Contest

Now it is your turn to be the expert and present a speech on a topic you are passionate about. This will further your public speaking skills and allows you to present what you know. Also, if you aren’t quite ready do a presentation solo, there is a group sales demonstration. Gather up your buddies and create a sales pitch Tuesday!

Judging Contest

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better there is a judging contest that allows you to be the judge and evaluate the pigs. It is all your opinion and learn from the results afterwards. Let’s get excited and pull together a team and judge some swine!

Pizza Party

Alright we understand we have thrown a lot of events at you during this week. We thought we would get some PIZZA and have a little celebration of all your hard work and accomplishments throughout the week. Be prepared for Friday night for some delicious pizza!

Award Ceremony

Throughout the entire week everyone has been working hard and competing in all the different events offered.  Everyone is competitive and we all want to know who won what. After the Pizza Party we pull everyone together to announce the contest results. We build all the suspicion by announcing the Overall Sweepstakes winners last. Everyone pull out your study materials and get ready!

LIP SYNC BATTLE

Yes, you read that right. At the 2019 NJSS, there will be an EPIC Lip Sync Battle! Pick of your tunes and warm up your voice. The battle will be Friday evening, after the Award Ceremony.
