PHOTOS: NSR Classic Weanling Pig Sift Thursday night

By NSR | Published November 19, 2010

The weanling pig sift at the 2010 Fall Classic in Duncan, Okla., started Thursday night at 5 p.m., with eight breeds plus crossbreds being sorted in two rings. There were a record 1,470 weanling pigs to be sifted; approximately 420 weanling gilts are slated to sell on Friday night, with a yet to be determined number of weanling males selling on Saturday. NSR CEO Darrell Anderson said the number of weanling pig entries are the highest ever, and the crowd in attendance for the event is the most he has seen in the history of the event.

On Friday morning the breeding swine shows start at 7:30 a.m. with Yorkshire, Hampshire and Duroc boars and gilts and crossbred boars. Friday night the champion female weanling pig prospects will be chosen, followed by the Fabulous Female Sale. Saturday the Yorkshire, Hampshire and Duroc boars and gilts and crossbred boars will start selling at 9 a.m. At 5 p.m. the champion male weanling pig prospects will be chosen, followed by the All Male Weanling Pig Sale.

Show and sale results will be posted on this blog, as well as on the National Swine Registry website at http://www.nationalswine.com/ as they are available.
