Part 1, Dr. Clint Schwab visits Ukraine
Dr. Clint Schwab, director of genetic and technical services for the National Swine Registry, visited Ukraine in July 2010 to both present information to swine producers in this country, as well as learn about their systems. Accompanying him were Dr. Tom Baas of Iowa State University, and Dr. Harold Hodson from Swine Genetics International, Iowa. Following are Schwab’s second set of photos and descriptions of this tour.

AUSTIN, MINN. (Sept 20, 2010) — Top teams in the 64th annual National Barrow Show® Swine Judging Contest held Sept. 13th in Austin, Minn., were Lake Land College, Mattoon, Ill., in the junior college division; and El Reno FFA, El Reno, Okla., in the junior division. The winning team in each of the levels of judging competition was awarded according to points accumulated in the contest. This year’s contest attracted 77 teams and 439 participants.
Senior College DivisionWestern Illinois University won first place in the senior college division with a score of 2974 points out of a possible 3250 points. The WIU team competed against a near-record 16 other teams in the university division. Members of this team, coached by Mark Hoge, included Alex Beniot, Ross Fogle, Alex Mahoney, Jordan McGrew, Nathan Schmidgall, and Torie Schwartz. Texas A&M University, College Station, was [ … ]
