Lane Lewis, Fort Wayne, Ind., was named Reserve Champion Senior Showman.
The 2014 NJSA Eastern Regional was held October 9-11 at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg, New York. The show took place in the brand new Agriculture Discoveries Center on the Erie County Fairgrounds. This year’s show hosted 100 exhibitors from 11 states. Their 170 gilts and 44 barrows were evaluated by Jeremy Jones of Warren, Indiana.
Taking home Grand Champion Gilt and Champion Yorkshire Gilt honors was Hannah Zundel of Pennsylvania.
Reserve Champion Gilt and Champion Hampshire honors went to Maddie Fugate of Illinois.
The Grand Champion Barrow and Champion Duroc Barrow honors went to Mackenzie Hodupp of Indiana.
Reserve Champion Barrow and Champion Hampshire Barrow honors went to Maddie Fugate of Illinois.
Exhibitors also participated in included a Skill-a-thon contest, pumpkin painting contest, pizza party, popcorn and movie, exhibitor breakfast, inspirational service by Ray Perryman, an awards presentation and silent auction.

All junior swine entries (Barrows and Breeding Gilts) are due Oct. 31. Barrows require DNA submission. Ownership deadline is Oct. 31 for Barrows and Breeding Gilts. The show judge is Jason Hirschfeld, Nebraska. This is a national affiliate show of the NJSA and Team Purebred. Show dates are Dec. 26-31 in Phoenix, Arizona. NJSA Bi-Monthly Online Contests!
Looking for a way to sharpen your skills, while winning cool prizes? Then, the NJSA Online Contests are for you. These bi-monthly, educational contests are designed to give members a place to tune-up their skills before national shows and contests. Each contest will be broken into four divisions – Novice, Junior, Intermediate and Senior. Members of the NSR Staff will judge each application, and one lucky winner will get a gift bag from the NJSA Store, like the one pictured!
