Outside of the show, Louisville has a lot to offer for entertainment. Check out these top things to do and places to see while you are in town for NJSS and STC.

Show Ring Style
By: Maddie Caldwell
Ever since I was a little girl, my grandparents instilled into me the value of first impressions. Whether it was being sure to greet someone with a smile and a firm handshake, or dressing well to display professionalism and class, they always made sure that I would be prepared for any situation. With these values in mind, I attempted to carry on that idea throughout my time showing. Although you may see me in the barn with rubber boots and mismatched t-shirts, I truly believe that making first impressions in the show ring is essential. In preparation for shows this summer, I hope that these tips help you navigate through the ever-growing shopping platform.

In his book Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcolm Gladwell set out to discover what makes people successful. He concluded that a key factor in being successful is opportunity – those who are given extraordinary opportunities and have the presence of mind to seize on them outperform those around them.
I can say, the past two summers I have been blessed with two extraordinary opportunities. Last summer, the PR team at the Wisconsin Farm Bureau took a chance on me as a college freshman. It’s that experience that gave me the confidence and experience to apply for this position, and I owe a debt of gratitude to Jen, Katie and everyone who was involved in selecting me the 2012 NSR Marketing & Communications intern.
Over the course of the summer, I have learned and grown a lot. Below are just a few lessons I’ll take back with me to Madison as I [ … ]

For those attending the NSR Summer Spectacular in Louisville, there is construction on the bridge crossing the Ohio River and long delays can be expected for exhibitors coming from the north on I-65 and exhibitors coming on I-64/I-71 from the east or I-65 from the west.
Following is a recommended detour for anyone coming from the north:
Take Exit 6 and travel west on I-265 to I-64 (Exit 121)
Follow 64 to I-264 (Exit 1)
Then follow I-264 to the Kentucky Expo Center
If you are traveling on I-64 from the west, please be sure to take I-264 to the Kentucky Expo Center. If you are traveling via I-71, take Exit 23 and follow I-264. From the east on I-64, take Exit 19 to I-264 for the Kentucky Expo Center.Safe travels, and see you in Louisville!
Hi all! My name is Ali Harwell and I am the NJSA Intern this summer. I am so excited to have the opportunity to be involved in another side of this awesome organization. We are already busy getting ready for WPX and NJSS and cannot wait for everyone to see what we have planned for this summer!
A little more about me… I am a senior Spartan from Michigan State University (MSU) majoring in environmental studies and agriscience with a specialization in secondary education. With this degree, I will have the opportunity to teach kids about the many aspects of agriculture. I hope to inspire future generations to be good representatives of agriculture and share the good news our industry has to offer. Activities that keep me busy at MSU include the livestock judging team, Sigma Alpha Agriculture Sorority and Block & Bridle.
