The Hampshire Sired Crossbred Barrow Division is a division in the crossbred barrow show at the World Pork Expo Jr. National.
The Hampshire Sired Crossbred Barrow Division is sponsored by the Hampshire Swine Registry.
Participating barrows must be sired by a registered Hampshire boar. There are no regulations on the pedigree of a barrow’s dam.
$5,000 in additional premiums, sponsored by the Hampshire Swine Registry, will be awarded to exhibitors of the top five Hampshire Sired Crossbred Barrows.
Division Champion: $2,500
Reserve Champion: $1,000
Third Overall: $750
Fourth Overall: $500
Fifth Overall $250
The Champion Hampshire Sired Crossbred Barrow division winner will also compete against crossbred barrow division winners for Overall Champion Crossbred Barrow honors.
The top five Hampshire Sired Crossbred Barrows will be DNA parentage tested against their declared sire and must pass parentage testing.
BREEDER INFORMATION:
IMPORTANT: Breeders MUST provide purchasers of Hampshire Sired Crossbred Barrows with the sire’s registration number.
All Hampshire Sired Crossbred Barrows MUST be sired by a registered Hampshire boar. Boars must be registered and have met all DNA testing requirements with a valid DNA sample on file at the National Swine Registry.
In the event a Hampshire Sired Crossbred Barrow fails its parentage test against its sire, the breeder of the Hampshire Sired Crossbred Barrow is responsible for meeting all responsibilities outlined in the NJSA DNA policy found in the NJSA Handbook.
EXHIBITOR INFORMATION:
World Pork Expo Jr. National exhibitors can exhibit two barrows per sex, per breed. Exhibiting one Hampshire Sired Crossbred Barrow counts as one crossbred barrow entry.
In order to show one Hampshire Sired Crossbred Barrow, you MUST also show one purebred barrow (of any breed). This is the same requirement as the traditional crossbred barrow rule for all NJSA events.
Barrows participating in the Hampshire Sired Crossbred division are not eligible for competition in multiple divisions (i.e.: purebred Hampshire barrow class or traditional crossbred barrow class)
Exhibitors should enter Hampshire Sired Crossbred barrows in the traditional crossbred barrow section of World Pork Expo Jr. National online entry form. Hampshire Sired Crossbred barrows can then be designated during World Pork Expo Jr. National show.
Exhibitors are asked to download the Hampshire Sired Barrow Information Sheet from the World Pork Expo Junior National section of nationalswine.com. This form must be printed, completed and presented during check-in at the show.
