Meet the Staff :: DeShea Wallace

Meet the Staff

DeShea Wallace, Creative Design Coordinator

How many years have you worked for the NSR?

I have been at the NSR for two years now.

What is your favorite aspect of your role with the NSR?

Every day in my job is different. Some days are spent at a show sitting in the ring picturing, some days I am creating new content for our events, creating ads, or designing another issue of the Seedstock EDGE. Whatever it is it is always exciting and challenging! I also thoroughly enjoy all the wonderful people I get to work with in and out of the office. I believe our members are the best people around and I enjoy talking and working with them daily!

What is one thing you wish members knew about your job?

No request is too big or too small. One of my favorite things is brainstorming what works for you and your business. I LOVE to sit down and be creative in many forms whether that’s designing a banner, ad, video, e-blast and more. I don’t think members truly know how endless the options are!

What is your favorite NSR memory?

While it sounds crazy, my favorite days in the office have been the days when we must go into crisis communications mode. I thrive on the adrenaline! When World Pork Expo was cancelled, I had to redesign a logo and all the content for The Exposition in a matter of a few hours. That is one of my favorite moments with the NSR and makes me so proud of what our staff was able to accomplish!

What was your involvement in the swine industry before your time with the NSR?

I grew up in New Mexico competitively showing pigs at the county, state, and national levels. My family also raised a few pigs of our own until I was in high school.

Please list your spouse and children (fur children included).

My husband Zac and our brand-new baby Liam. We also have our three dogs, Leia, Hank and Daisy.

Where did you go to college and what was your major?

I attended Texas Tech and majored in Agriculture Communications with a minor in Meat Science. I was also on the wool, meats and livestock judging teams while there.

What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?

My husband and I like to spend a lot of time outside with our dogs throwing the ball, going for walks, hikes, or adventures! Recently my new favorite hobby is loving on our first baby! I also indulge in some good reality TV on the regular.

Where is your favorite place to visit or where is your dream vacation?

Me and Zac love Disney and even went to Disney World for our honeymoon. I can’t wait to take Liam as soon as he’s old enough.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?

New Mexico Red Enchiladas!

What is a fun fact about yourself?

My dream in life would be to own my own meat market. (With certified DUROC® Pork of course)
